White Porcelain Heater Ornate Birdhouse
I was lucky enough to find another great little space heater. They make great birdhouses. One of my earliest birdhouses was a white Samco space heater (HERE).
This one has a bit more work put into it with the custom made pieces and parts.
I started this one with gutting it, cleaning it and creating the birdhole (1 1/2"). A silverplate napkin ring was used for the entrance to the birdhole. Next, I used some modified spoon handles for pieces above the napkin ring. A handle from an antique silverplate gravy boat was used for the perch. I disassembled an old silverplate food tray for a glass dish and used the filigree frame as the ornate banding along the sides. On back, I used an old silverplate saucer to cover the hole of the space heater. A vintage gold-toned bird broach is the art in the center of that. I metal leaf piece from a disassembled sconce shoots up above that. Pieces of old license plates were mounted inside to cover the vent hole slits around the top perimeter. Small metal drawer pulls/knobs were mounted on top as small finials. I custom cut a piece of galvanized sheet metal to create the floor. Now the fun part, I cut and flattened a vintage metal tin with the ornate victorian woman portrait and custom framed it with some copper came (stained glass supplies). I carved and grinded two antique silverplate spoons into rose leaves. The handles plus one other border the leaves in the arrangement on top of the framed metal tin artwork. A footing from the filigree food tray is mounted at center below the framed tin piece. I think that's about it. The space heater is a Peerless brand. Most parts were soldered onto the piece to make it more sturdy like most all my pieces. They are built to last as decorator pieces or as actual birdhouses outdoors.
This great birdhouse is ready to go and can be yours in my Etsy Shop (HERE).
