Garden Spider Hanging Out

I guess this is my first backyard spider post.  Hooray!  But anyway, I thought I would break out the short lens the other day and catch this spider waiting for a meal.  It looks large, but it was only about 3/4".  I guess it is some variation of a garden spider.  Some experts out there might know exactly. 

All I know is it's catching pests for me.  Keep up the great work Spidey!
